Message from the President
Time always seems to scream by at De La Salle. Graduation on Friday, June 14th was a constant reminder of that. Just three years ago, the young men and women who walked down the aisle were munchkins! Being a witness to their transformation and their progress as young adults brings me great happiness.
At a recent Board meeting, the Board of Trustees and I, Brother Brian Carty, FSC, Founder and President appointed Dr. Angel Gonzalez as the Principal of De La Salle Academy (DLSA). He has been Acting Principal since August 2018. The Board of Trustees is confident that his vision for the future of the school and his in-depth understanding of its mission and philosophy make him an excellent choice to lead the school as we move forward.
Dr. Gonzalez is a graduate of De La Salle Academy, class of 1999 and holds a B.A. from Hunter College, an M.A. in Education and Ph.D. in Social & Cultural Studies in Education from University of California Berkeley. He has been working at DLSA for nine years and was most recently the Academic Dean.
In addition, we are pleased to announce that Mr. Michael Tapscott has been appointed Assistant Principal of De La Salle Academy. Michael and Angel were classmates at DLSA and make an incredibly dynamic team to head the school. Mr. Tapscott holds a B.A. in Biology from Wesleyan University and an M.A. in Educational Leadership from Columbia University Teachers College. He has been at DLSA for twelve years and was most recently Dean of Students.
We are incredibly fortunate to have such talented and dedicated alumni of the school who are able to step in to take on the challenges of leading the next generation of DLSA students.
Thanks to the faculty who work closely with our children and are dedicated professionals. The love, dedication, and hard work is what is the key to the transformative process at De La Salle.
Brother Brian Carty, FSC
Founder and President
